Rugged Compact 1 meter USB 3.0 Cable AA

The meter cable was perfect for my application; Because this is a standard USB 3 A-to-A cable, other cables of different lengths can be used for other configurations. Convenient USB connector spacing of 18mm (0.6"); more would be wasted. The hub itself is about 1" x 1.5" in cross-section and has a power and host connector on one end, so it can be secured with, for example, double-sided tape can be easily attached in different orientations 4 ports for connecting devices to the host computer is enough, but two dedicated ports for charging is overkill for me.
