Fine, looks good, not easy to put on

I've recently bought and installed a few different window shades (roller shades and top-down, bottom-up like these). They were made to order through an online shop as my window dimensions weren't quite standard. However, they were a bit expensive. I had a standard size large window and when I saw this product on Revain I bought it for the price thinking it would be easy enough to install. I was wrong. The instructions are not very clear and do not take into account several steps. I went back to the list where the youtube video was mentioned in the installation guide. The video was short and basically just followed the same steps with pictures as the written guide. The video had a few missing steps, that helped. Luckily I installed other window treatments so I could understand what was meant, but if this was my first install I would be lost. The problems didn't stop there, however. The screws that came with the kit were quite short and ended up not "hooking" on the skin enough to attach. I had to look for other screws to get it working. It was difficult to install with just one person as you had to keep the blinds fairly level during installation and also before they "hang by themselves". I ended up using some empty jars to keep it off the windowsill so I could tie knots in the penultimate step. The instructions do not state that the ropes are not twisted. I noticed this and knew from my other experience that twisted ropes would be a problem and I could unwind them before finally hanging them. They look ok overall but luckily they are by the window so I won't move them up or down much. . I don't think the blinds will last long. If you expect your blinds to get a lot of use I would recommend something more permanent.
