I liked the style of this model more than other similar phono preamps so that's the main reason I chose it; Apparently all cheaper players like this one are basically the same internally and basically work similarly. The sound is sufficient and not so bad when the lid is closed; However, headphones make this a moot point as they work brilliantly. All the connections are there to convert vinyl to digital which is one of the reasons I bought it as my old Pioneer turntable is stunning. When I'm done with this project I'm sending it to my daughter along with my 45 of thousands to do with as she pleases. I hope I'm done collecting records in this lifetime! PS: As other reviews have noted, the auto-return needs some tweaking to work properly. Or just forget it.
