Works exactly as you expect

I installed a 2 piece socket box after assembly behind the TV when hanging it on my bedroom wall. The problem is that with a traditional outlet, the plugs protrude from the wall, making it difficult, if not impossible, to plug them in. This built-in socket was exactly what I needed. The connectors can now be reached and connected/disconnected without removing the TV. A few notes: First I would install the TV and place it where you want it and then see where the outlets are best placed. My TV is mounted on the wall with no cabinet/dresser/entertainment center, so I don't have a DVD player hooked up to it. I have an Apple TV and a Firestick (the Apple TV sits on top of the TV) and both require power outlets. Because of this, I placed the top of this box almost flush with the top of the TV (maybe 1/2 inch lower). You can only see the sockets if you stand directly in front of the TV and look down over the top. but I can still access the plugs. Also note that this thing is LARGE but uses a slightly smaller double band platter inside than the standard platter. If a large hole is required and you find that there is something behind the drywall (a diagonal brace or something) you will either need to remove the obstruction or make modifications to the box.

Pros
  • Plugs don't stick out of the wall like a normal socket
Cons
  • The Secret
