I bought this item because we use brand name curlers to create hairstyles but lost the hook and couldn't find a curling iron that we could ship in less than a week. It was the best item so next day delivery and I needed it immediately and it came with 2 hooks so was glad to have a backup. The night before the competition I curled my daughter's hair and on the 3rd curl the hook broke (and I know from experience that I need to use small strands of hair and I did). I thought it was ok, I have a spare. It either fell apart or didn't hold on to the end, the handle kept falling off. The second hook I used also broke at the connecting part and this has split so it cannot be used. I haven't used actual hair rollers as I've still used curlers but they seem quite comparable but without a proper hook connection it's pointless to try. I had to reorder the branded hook.
