Sounds ok but doesn't automatically pair with my Echo

I bought this to pair with the Echo I have in my bedroom for use in the master bathroom. Sounds good, battery lasts a long time. I was able to connect it to my Echo with no problems. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't automatically connect to my Echo when I turn it on. I have to tell Alexa to connect. I'm not sure if it's a speaker issue, but I had another one that connected when powered on. Otherwise it works great.
