Robust, durable and well-balanced product for a smartphone. I don't know the tablet. A 6-8 inch tablet should work, you have to be careful not to tip over. The bottom and back have grippy material to keep the item from slipping out. That gets 5 stars. The problem is with the pull handle. A sleeve that surrounds the rack. The plastic is too smooth and with enough weight or movement (twisting or touching the phone) it will fall off. If you don't use it in the extended state or if you have a light object that you don't touch, it can hold. just great. This gets 1 star because it defeats the entire purpose of its expansion. I couldn't give this less than 4 stars as otherwise it holds the phone securely and is made of good material apart from the pole slipping issue.
