I bought this remote to use as a second remote for my VIP722K dash cam, although you can use it as a backup remote. It's brand new and looks just like my old remote control. After a while, remote controls just wear out. I guess you could say I watch TV a lot and wear out my buttons. This unit did not come with batteries but since I was replacing my old one I used these batteries. To program a dual remote control: 1. Turn on the receiver and the TV and press SYSTEM INFO on the front of the receiver.2. Make sure you see the system information screen.3. Make a note of the remote address listed in the Remote UHF address field. This is a number between 1 and 16.4. Press and hold the SAT mode button on the new remote control until all mode buttons light up. All four mode buttons should light up.6. Use the numeric keypad on the remote control to enter the remote address from step 3.7. The SAT button should light up.8. Press the POUND (#) key.9. The SAT button should blink three times.10. Press the RECORD button.11. If the steps are successfully completed, the number entered in step 3 should be displayed on the System Information screen.12. Select Done to close the System Information screen. The instructions that came with the remote control show you how to program the remote control as a backup: 1. Turn on the receiver and the TV and press SYSTEM INFO on the front of the receiver.2. Make sure you see the system information screen.3. Press RECORD on the remote control. The receiver will be updated according to the address of the remote control.4. Confirm that your remote control is controlling your receiver by pressing the buttons on the remote control. If that doesn't work, go back to step 3.
