I took them as spare socks for a spring trip to the border waters. I'm very glad I did as we had some issues. Finally my son didn't fit in his hippie shoes and this allowed him to put them on without changing shoes. I took the second pair with me in case my waders should break. One of the boys had no socks and developed an early stage of hypothermia, mainly due to wet feet. I gave him my spare pair the next day and he was much warmer and happy with the socks. They dry in the sun and are blown in one day to be ready for the next day. They were VERY cold to put on unless there was sun or a way to dry them. I will use them again and again. While they don't always keep your feet 100 percent dry when they get wet, they work in a similar way to wetsuits, allowing your body to warm them up and keep them warm. I don't blame the manufacturer for getting your feet wet when they get wet as that's clearly not intended for that. If they were going to do something like that, they would have to be a lot tougher to support it.
