Review on 🌧️ Rain-X 830122 Endura 22-Inch Silicone Wiper Blade by Thong Lopez

Good wiper blade but attachment point seems fragile

Hi everyone, as you can see from the attached photo I drive an older Mercedes (which you have to snatch from my cold dead hands ☺️) that has the window cleaner system with a blade. This means one blade has to do the work of a more traditional two-blade system. I now have two of these new silicone blades - the first was a different brand name (PIAA) which was more expensive but also turned out to be identical to this RAIN-X blade. I wasn't aware of it when I bought it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I'm keeping it away anyway for convenience as I don't want to return it unless it breaks prematurely. The first PIAA I bought broke right at the attachment point where the metal wiper arm connects to the attachment point on the blade. Sad). In the first version of PIAA, this plastic attachment point detached immediately - luckily my windshield/car was not damaged. So I sent the first one back for a full refund. I bought this brand of RAIN-X as a replacement not knowing as I said before that the wiper blade would be completely identical to this brand. I'm keeping this second one in the hope that the failure of the first one was just an anomaly caused by a manufacturing defect in the plastic mount itself. I will update this review if the second one breaks too. As for the performance of the silicone blade itself - it works very well - even on my old, somewhat pitted windshield. But to be honest, if I had known that this brand's glass cleaner had the exact same design as the more expensive PIAA blade, I would not have bought it. I would look for an older Blade with a black aluminum frame that has a mounting system built into the metal frame itself. The universal attachment system of this knife means that it (the attachment point) is on the TOP and not INSIDE the metal frame of the knife. This fact combined with the fact that the attachment point is made entirely of plastic means that this design can easily break. It is also known that plastics become more brittle when temperatures drop. But as I said, I still keep this option mostly for convenience. But if it breaks, then that too will be sent back. I will also update this review if this happens. I hope someone finds this review helpful as I rely heavily on reviews myself when making a purchasing decision.
