This beautiful little device is immediately impressive. I'm really fond of hand-wound radios, and now I always keep at least three or four of these on hand, scattered between my bedroom and my car. I like to try to find near and far stations at night depending on the weather and very often get good reception from the KNX1070 in Los Angeles despite being almost a thousand miles away. I use them both next to my bed and when traveling to the road, off-grid areas and parking lots. The hand crank works very smoothly. You can't rely solely on solar power for daily charging, but that's ok for this size. The speaker sounds great for its size. I don't even bother with AA batteries because either the solar powered USB port or the hand crank will keep enough of them going for our use. The weather service is very valuable and comes very clearly.
