First, this product is NOT stainless steel. The description and packaging of the product states that it is made of stainless steel. Inside the bottle is black plastic of unknown type and quality. This is an important distinction as I've been trying to limit or eliminate plastic in my kitchen. I didn't want to use a glass atomizer because the light would quickly rancid the oil. I also didn't want to pump air into the atomizer like I would with a Misto atomizer. My husband used it on New Year's Eve to spray an apple juice/cider vinegar solution onto a pork butt we were smoking. For such a coating, repeatedly pressing the sprayer was tiring. This uses a standard pressure pump atomizer that produces a good mist with this type of liquid. Haven't tried it with butter yet so I know how it compares. The spray mechanism is probably not bad for most small applications like coating a pan with oil. Will probably look for an atomizer that is not made of plastic.
