802.11n card bound to 802.11b - NO 5G!

My current card disconnects every time I open explorer. I bought this card hoping to solve this problem (and giving it credit for actually solving THIS problem) but the card refuses to connect to 5g networks even if they have FULL BANDS. I've spent 2 hours getting this card to work, I've tried the driver CD that came with it, the latest driver from the FebSmart website, I've tried using Windows Update, changing the network settings in the device properties menu and remove the bluetooth cable . , moving my computer closer to the router, unplugging and rebooting, aligning the antennas and more, but didn't fix anything. My guess is that this card is indeed 802.11n but is stuck with a clumsy, outdated driver for 802.11b (which is very slow and only works with 2.4g networks). Avoid this at all costs and opt for a reputable brand.
