Review on πŸ“ StarTech.com eSATAp 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive Enclosure - SATA III HDD/SSD Enclosure with UASP (S251SMU33EP) by Ghostnote Azevedo

Revainrating 2 out of 5

4.5 stars, almost perfect, material looks like HQ and the drive is tightly packed inside

Bought after I had to return an external hard drive due to a poorly made spare USB port and decided to just make my own to make outer casing with higher quality. Love the latch design, it comes with a nice rosette to cover the 7mm rims and fit snugly into the case. I imagine a 9.5mm drive would fit snugly without the washer, would be snug and the washer would flex a bit. All materials feel high quality, the padding inside feels thick and frothy with a "sticky" texture, I feel my disc is very reliable. The rubber bumpers are a bit oversized and much more stretchy than they look in the photos, lint magnets but very easy to put on and take off. Soft, velvety texture that feels long-lasting. UASP support is an amazing feature. The only thing that bothers me is the seal on the docking port. The connector itself appears to be in good condition, doesn't wobble or give terribly when plugged in, but the small tab that slides back seems to cover the connector and has to be pulled to plug it in. Then when you release there is some tension on the side of the plug and no space between them. I don't plan on taking this outside of my room and needing a seal, so I can just remove the cap to avoid stressing the connector and to keep the integrity of the connection at its best. Had that lip on the lid been set even a millimeter or two above this drive it would have been five stars, but the risk of plug stress hangs a bit for me as the connector connection seems to be the first thing to consider when it comes to looks and casing. But other than that little detail, this thing is a beast. Everything is tightly packed there, if you shake it a little, nothing moves inside. Love it. I have a feeling this is going to take a long time, but I'll edit if I run into any problems.
