Maybe this actually works as described for smaller birds like finches or maybe parrots. However, I have two cockatiels and a food bowl for each, and after a few weeks I notice that there is still enough food strewn across the floor of their cage. My kittens eat pellet food and if half of their food ends up on the floor of the cage it really is a waste (pellet food is NOT cheap). I was hoping that the scatter would be reduced a lot more. In addition, there is a small perch inside the feeder for small birds such as finches to sit on. The bodies are of course too big to benefit from it. Instead, I had to rearrange the outside perches so they could sit on them. I think the feeding bass is actually getting in their way and blocking their ability to get some of the food. But the perches are held on with screws, so I can probably just take them off since I don't need them anyway. The feeders themselves are pretty easy to set up. They hang in my cage with two hooks. So far I haven't had a problem with them falling off or unhooking the hooks when the lines shake the feeders. Admittedly when I refill them they can be a little awkward to rehang and the hooks tend to fall off if I tilt the feeder the wrong way, but I guess that's just because I have a big cage and I'm too short man making it difficult to get to the sides. Smaller cages or cages where the feeder can be hung outside should not pose a problem. It is very good that my birds are no longer sitting in their feeding troughs and can therefore poop for food. And then eat. Because birds are stupid in that sense and they don't seem to care that their food is dirty (or maybe it's just my birds, I don't know). Either way, feeders get rid of THIS mess, which I appreciate. I think the feeders are definitely MUCH better than some other similar feeders I've reviewed on this site (and at pet stores). For the price they are perfectly adequate. until you expect a glittery floor in a cage with no lining, because there are no promises that ever come true.
