First I want to say that I'm glad that 8 screws and 8 wall plugs are included in the kit! The reason it comes with 8 is that a total of 4 are used for wall application and the other 4 are used for ceiling application. I assumed I would have to buy anchors, but they are included. Because the ceiling anchors are included, I was able to mount them as close to the ceiling and wall as possible, so the curtains hung closer to the wall and I didn't have to worry about finding studs or rivets. (Remember to check the power supply with a scanner before drilling any holes). After installing on the ceiling, it looks very dense, beautiful and durable. It also includes a hex wrench that is used for a set screw (included) that tightens onto the stem. The brackets are quite small and don't stand out too much. I think the design looks very nice even hanging from the ceiling. It also includes an instruction chart listing the sizes of drill bits you will need. I imagine they could also be used to hang other items besides curtain rods if you plan on hanging something that will fit at least a 1 inch diameter ring. However, it is not split and is a one-piece structure. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a ceiling cornice. It can also be used on the wall. And since it comes with everything you need for installation (except a drill, a screwdriver and of course a rod) I'd say this is very good value for money.
