I firmly believe that bags are bags. Now that they cost so much, and the folks at Electrolux have warned you from day one that using anything other than 'permitted' bags will surely mean the end of existence, faith in sanity is being tested . So I can't say those bags prevented Armageddon. But I can say that one bag chosen at random from many randomly selected to date has managed to contain the sucked goo in a way consistent with the exploitation of "authorized" bags over the years. I will say (although this is a review of bags, not vacuums) my wife's claim about 20 years ago that buying Electrolux would end the constant replacement of smaller machines was correct. I have to admit: I had doubts. She was right; I was wrong (about it). The supplier of these bags, whose name I've almost forgotten by now, sent them to us with the delivery. We had the last bag (poor planning on our part) and they saved us from housekeeping. We used to have to order these authorized bags from a real, live Electrolux salesman who would supply the bags and want to clean our carpets, curtains, cars, cats, whatever, with the latest non-crappy but unwanted cleaning miracle they were selling . I can do without this thing.
