The collar is very well made, my miniature dachshund (12 pounds) gets used to it quickly. he was healthy I bought him this soft collar before the surgery and he started wearing it as soon as he got home. It definitely helped. He has no problems walking, eating, sleeping. One problem is that its long body and long nose helped it get to the wound with little to no effort. So he can still lick it, but he's definitely been trying to spend a lot less time in the collar. We film him when he comes out because he touches the ground when he looks down. If you have a dachshund maybe try another one that faces up rather than flat like this one?
