50% Chinese Engineering

This is a perfect example of what I call 50% Chinese Engineering. That means they took a good idea but didn't pay enough attention to the actual design. For example on this device: the microphone shock mount itself is fine and works great. However, the included "pop-up screen" is COMPLETELY OF NO USE - if you use it as shown in the product photos and instructions. Fortunately, there is a quick fix. In order for the pop-up screen to do its job, there needs to be a gap between the screen itself and the microphone. The gap allows you to physically disperse the "explosive sounds" caused by pronouncing the letter "P" or other phrases that create a micro-puff of air from our mouth. The design of this screen is that it rests on the microphone itself. - no gap making the screen unusable. Here is the solution as shown in the photos. Do not wrap the built-in rubber bands around the microphone, but attach them OUTSIDE of the microphone itself and secure it to the microphone with a regular household rubber band. The shield now has enough clearance to allow the explosives to dissipate before hitting the outer microphone shield. The problem is solved. If it weren't for the lack of good engineering I would give this device 5 stars, but this is just another example of how the Chinese rush to make a cheap product without thinking about how to make it *right* .
