Review on 🐧 Adorable Penguins on Ice Cross Stitch Ornament Kit by Design Works Crafts - 3-1/2" Each by Hannah Curi

This is absolutely adorable and comes with everything you need. I only have two complaints so I'm deducting two stars. First the strings were knotted and the instructions came with only the most basic colored keys (see attached photos). Because of this, I have no idea if the colors I've marked as current are correct or not (I included a picture of my countertop, which I made out of cardboard, in the package). For example, two strings I think are yellow and gold are significantly different, but I have no idea which should be yellow and which should be gold. So much of this project was guesswork. The second, although I checked several times, I don't have enough color I'm assuming I just received the package because although the instructions say I should only have one orange thread, I actually have two. So I have no comparison and I don't know if this orange is supposed to be a dark orange or a regular orange. This is my first cross stitch kit so I'm a little sad that things aren't going as smoothly as I would like. I'm thankful that orange is missing and not another color because the penguin's legs look good even if they're not two-toned. One improvement I would make would be to use a board to separate the strands so each color can be identified, or tag them with some sort of color coded tag. This would make the process much easier for beginners. In general, this is a very nice project and I'm sure they will be successful. I recommend this kit for beginners as the material is sturdy yet flexible. The person who pushed me to try cross stitch said it would be a lot easier to do such a small project than trying to use a canvas kit that requires a ring. I have to say I think she's right so far.
