I have a VPI Aries Scout that requires the user to provide their own isolation pad. I use a 1" thick piece of Silestone kitchen countertop as the heavy weight. The turntable and Silestone base together weigh at least 75 pounds. See image. When I saw Nobsound legs with springs I decided to give them a try, especially considering the price. They dampen the vibrations of the housing on which the turntable rests. Now I can tap on the top of the recorder and hear nothing even with the volume turned up high. When you tap the platter, the whole assembly wobbles, as you'd expect - it's spring-loaded, after all. I estimate an oscillation frequency of around 6 Hz, which is well below the lower frequency limit of a hi-fi system. So now I have an effective player isolation system that rejects anything above, say, 12-15 Hz. I use all 7 springs in each leg and the spring compression is around 20-40 percent. A foot is almost fully compressed at around 40 pounds. The only thing I can add to this system is a piece of solid wood (MDF?) between the platter and the Silestone platter to block some of the chime from the platter itself. It's a simple system that doesn't cost much and really works.
