I needed replacement filters for my Orek handheld vacuum. None of these are available locally, so I looked online and found a couple of knockoff Orek filters at a much lower price. I was in a hurry, mostly reading the Q&A, and decided to try them because one commenter said they were double walled and because many others were very happy with them. Unfortunately they are not as good as the original Orek bags when I have compared them individually and I will be returning them. (Check out the 3 photos below.) The product description only says they filter dust and allergens much better than the "standard single layer bag". They call it 99.7% effective at removing allergens with a "microfilter" bag. It wasn't specified if they were single or double wall, but after reading the first commenter's positive response to asking if they were double wall, I expected the bag to be double wall. However, these are just (supposedly) higher quality single layer bags made in China. They are made of seemingly strong but thin paper. A comparison with Orek's truly double-walled hypoallergenic filter bags is simply impossible. I am extremely disappointed. I need hypoallergenic vacuum bags and they don't impress me much. However, based on others' experiences, they are durable enough to hold up well to vacuuming and they are inexpensive. Unless you care about using a hypoallergenic vacuum bag, I think these bags would work great for an Orek handheld vacuum like mine. They are very similar in size, only 1/8" less in width and depth and 1/4" larger than my Orek bag. I just need a better bag and am willing and able (thank goodness) to pay for it. We have several cats in the house and two large litter boxes. I need a really reliable HEPA filter like the one in my Orek to catch any cat dander etc when I'm vacuuming. I don't think these filters will be anywhere near as good. They aren't the same size, don't have double walls and aren't even made in the USA like I thought. My Orek vacuums seem to work just as well as they did when I first bought them in 1995. I had no problems. with you. This may be partly because I've always spent extra money on Orek bags. Bad bags that allowed more solids to pass through the engine on their way through the exhaust pipe could end up causing engine problems. Orek bags, unlike the cheaper bags, always come with a small filter to protect the motor. However, I think it's possible to give this little filter a good rinse and reuse it. I'm very sensitive to dust and odors and I love how my two Oreks emit clean air when vacuuming - if I use the original bags. I don't know these bags because I am returning them unused. After vacuuming, the air in my house is always so comfortable and clean, which I attribute to the quality of the Orek bags. I'm all about saving money and was really hoping that these EnviroCare Micro Filtration vacuum bags would match my Orek bags. You are not. As you can see in my photos, if you compare two brands side by side, the difference is huge. Still, I give them 3 stars because they're so cheap and definitely pack a lot. I just don't think they pick up 99.7% of the allergens and germs on the floors.
