Review on Panasonic DVD S700P K Up Converting Region Player by Ray Welchhance

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Regular price in DVD players

This player falls fundamentally into the 'you get what you pay for' category. And I wasn't expecting too much from a sub-$100 device, but I have to say that even without high expectations, this device doesn't feel very solid, almost flimsy. It takes up very little space, which I like, but it's very light, and I think the fragile part is also due to the small disc tray and how it works. I tried a US region DVD and a different region disc and both seemed to play well with good picture and sound. I tried a standard music CD and it seemed to play fine; and tried an MP3 CD-R music disc which skipped a track and didn't go to the first track in the next folder after finishing the last track in the folder (need to switch between folders manually). Anyway, don't worry about playing CDs as I have this for playing DVDs sometimes. As I actually play very few DVDs I think this player will be fine as long as it still works 6-12 months later when I try to play another DVD. I wouldn't recommend this player to anyone who plays DVDs a lot ie daily or even once a week as I doubt it will last very long before breaking - as I said it seems pretty flimsy.
