These knives are described as "hand wash recommended". The care card in the box said something like "beauty care" knife, hand wash. I'm disappointed that the instructions don't state more clearly what happens when you put them in the dishwasher: not only do they lose their glossy finish, but they also leave a messy black residue that lands on your hands and any food you touch when you use knives. As such the knives are great paring knives for the price, but typically "hand wash recommended" does not mean that putting the tool in the dishwasher will render it virtually useless. I've tried wiping the residue off which helps a little but also ruins whatever sponge or rag you use to clean. I will definitely not buy from this manufacturer again. They should be marked "not dishwasher safe" or something similar. Very disappointing!
