*Box is not plastic - only plastic lid. The base is cardboard.* Like most classic Lego collections, this one is very versatile. It has a good mix of standard and custom parts. This is the perfect size for a small learning center for a child to use for 10-15 minutes which is what I needed. If you haven't already see the additional instructions for each set on Lego.com as there are additional instructions for each set - this one has a racing car and lighthouse amongst other things, kids love it! The only thing that really pissed me off about this set was that it turned out to be one of those nice sturdy yellow plastic boxes that can be used for Lego or other toys. However, only the top is made of plastic; lower carton box. I would prefer either a recyclable cardboard box or a reusable plastic box - unfortunately this lid is going to waste as the cardboard has worn out and I don't have a lidded box. This is the worst option! I was really disappointed as the box just wouldn't last long in my class; I was hoping to have a complete storage box. (And not have a pile of plastic waste!)
