In this case, I admit that maybe I'm just an uncultured layman, not used to good things. I just don't see the value in this belt given the quality of its leather. Maybe I'm paying for the "designer style" name. The belt surprisingly serves its purpose, so no problem. The plastic buckle assembly effectively manages my metal allergy, which is the most important thing for me. The belt is elegant and I like a much more rustic belt than this one. This belt is too cowardly for me. As I said, this belt is very good, it is so sophisticated in its simplicity. As my complaints about the belt are a matter of personal taste I cannot deduct a single star as it would be unfair. The belt may be a bit overpriced, but I strongly suspect it is "designer quality" and the name should pay its price. I think the strap will be strong enough, but don't go to the rodeo or the mountains with it. That's drinks at the country club, dinner, and a show belt. UPDATE: These Thomas Bates metalless men's leather belts are more, nothing less. I also shrink with age. The size 36 belt that used to be tight on me now floats around my waist like a boat without an anchor. I brought two more of these belts in size 34. God, I haven't been a 34 waist in anything since I was in high school. The plastic buckle belt works well and doesn't cause me any allergies. I just poked a hole in a size 36 belt to tap on and problem solved. The two size 34 straps I just ordered will be my straps for the Sunday meeting.
