Review on Quercetti 041857 Tubation Wheels by Keith Baker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sturdy, good quality for imaginative kids but additional tube shapes can be used

Overall this is a decent creative toy for a smart kid. I got this for my son as a Christmas present just before his 4th birthday. He's always had what we now call an engineering hobby: from childhood he was fascinated with pipes, tubes, drainpipes, exhaust systems, stoves, etc. He liked the Boon bath toy we gave him a few years ago (the he uses). outside of the tub too, building everything from tools to sewer pipes and connecting them creatively) so I looked for a pipe building toy that would allow him to expand that interest. These Quercetti toys are sturdy with a fair amount of flexibility. But as other reviewers have pointed out, it lacks certain types of ports, such as B. simple straight lengths of pipe which could be inserted into another pipe at both ends. strongly pressed against each other. So far we haven't found this to be a major issue and for those who do I may recommend a small amount of joint lube which will ease any issues. Since I own several Susato pipes made from PVC-like tubing, I had this Susato joint lube on hand. But I think there are many similar products out there. My son enjoyed working with my husband I trying to build some of the vehicles and structures on the ideas list, but mostly he uses pipes in completely new ways (making telephone receivers, laying marble paths, creating a really long structure shaped like a grass catcher ). , and simulate shearing herbs, etc.). I think imaginative kids will find many really unique ways to use and build these tubes. We're generally happy with them, but wish there were some other add-on parts included (like extra wheels or other gimmicks) and more variety in tube shapes and types.
