A smart mechanism that does exactly what it's supposed to do: lock the door. To be clear, this mechanism requires pressing a combination of 4 to 8 of the 12 buttons on the keypad in any order and only the buttons that unlock the outside door handle. (The inside doorknob always opens the door.) If you press the wrong button or don't press all the correct buttons, the toggle switch stays on and the door won't open from the outside. No batteries, no lights, no electrics at all. This is purely mechanical. You need to drill 4 extra holes in the door for this lock and you can't close them if you want to go back to a more traditional door set. There really isn't anything that can go wrong unless you break the mechanism when it's locked or it succumbs to weather or impact issues.
