I really wanted me fall in love with this watch. But. It's very well done. It's not heavy or too big on my wrist (for reference, I'm 5ft 9in, 210lbs). I hardly notice he's there when he's been around for a while. The screen is great outdoors and not terrible indoors. I use the light while inside to read the face. I want the light to stay on a bit longer as when clicked it goes off for about 5 seconds. I'm pretty sure it was a power management decision. The device is VERY intuitive. I was concerned it would be awkward to use since it's not a touchscreen. Not at all. this watch is phenomenal. I didn't read any manuals and spent days trying to operate the device. Seriously, Garmin did a great job on the user interface. I really thought I would end up using the device because it has the potential but to be honest I haven't. I use it every day for hiking and occasionally for cycling. I check the status several times. once a day in the included app, which is also very well designed. Sleep tracking, breath rate, steps, lots of info I use. The problem is that this device does a lot more than I really need and I really think buying a half price device from Garmin would be ok. It's not their fault at all, but be aware that if you're looking at this and not using it for its intended purpose, you could literally save hundreds of dollars by choosing a cheaper Garmin unit that will do most of the work done. Basics, and I'm very good at those basics. Some things I don't like. My heart rate measurement is "normal" for a device in this price range. For example, today I was walking up a very steep hill and only showed 98 pulses. I know it was wrong. My friend's watch showed a significant difference to his watch. I checked a few times and it never went above 105. On the way down the hill I checked and was suddenly at 135 which seemed accurate as I had just started descending just before the check. This happens quite often, especially considering how much I paid for the device. Another complaint I have is that when I try to use the breath app, I keep missing the vibration for my breath timer because the vibration just isn't strong enough. I would like to use it effectively, I would actually have to look at my dial to tell me when to breathe, hold my breath etc as if defeating the whole purpose of the exercise which is to focus on breathing. Again, that wouldn't be so important if I hadn't spent so much money on it. When I bought this device I realized that the premium price I was paying was intelligent tracking/activity tracking to put an end to all experiences. These inconsistencies are overlooked in cheaper devices, but this is unacceptable in this price range. I really love the device, even with my few issues, and I have no regrets per se, but I could definitely choose a cheaper device if I need to. It is for. Just make sure you really need it and check out the other devices before proceeding with it. I hope that one day I will improve my game enough to be able to use all the features and I hope that with firmware updates the vibration and heart rate tracking will be a bit more stable.
