Just hope it lasts a long time

I bought this thermometer to replace my last meat thermometer which I only used 3 or 4 times before it just stopped working. It has a similar style that I like. I wanted a smaller thermometer with a base to make it easier to store. I also wanted to have a thermometer that could be transported from the base so I could take it inside to hear the alarm if I was smoking meat outside. I ended up going for this one because the buttons looked a little easier to understand than the others and weren't too big. This was pretty easy to figure out without reading the instructions. I love that you can manually set the temperature you want to cook food at, and that's exactly what I was looking for. Here are some key features: Meat presets: Beef, Lamb, Veal, Hamburger, Pork, Turkey, Chicken, Fish Temperature range (for manual setting): -4ยฐF to 572ยฐF Time range: 0 minutes to 99 minutes 59 seconds The sec- Buttons on the left also function as up and down buttons for manually adjusting the temperature. To set the temperature manually, simply press and hold the mode button for about 3 seconds. After setting the temperature manually, press the "Mode" button once to set it. On the right is the Stop/Start (S/S) button. Pressing this button starts a timer if you want to see how long it takes to reach the set temperature. The timer only runs up to 99 minutes 59 seconds. So it doesn't work for long recipes like smoking meat. You can also set the time during which you want to cook something. For small steps, press the minute button repeatedly. For a bigger step, just hold the minutes or seconds button and it will start increasing rapidly. The only minor downside I've found so far is the loud beep every time the button is pressed. It's not a killer; it just seems way louder than necessary. Haven't used it yet but I really hope it lasts because it's exactly what I was looking for. I felt that the description of this device on Revain was a bit lacking, so I hope my detailed review will help others.
