Review on 🐾 Heated Small Pet Bed by Oster by Alisa Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great after making some creative adjustments

When I received the bed it didn't have many things. I took it out of the box, pocketed it and watched the cats push each other away to steal the bed. Since there were no specific instructions in the kit, I wasn't sure if the heating could be left on all night or during the day while I was away. The heat is pretty low, not as hot as a human heating pad, so I figured it was pretty safe to leave it on overnight. Pros: Very comfortable foam pillow with fluffy soft cover, lovely egg crate pillow keeps older pets friendly, high sides to keep drafts out, washable cover and big enough for two or three cats or little bears. Dog. Two cats, weighing fifteen and eleven pounds, slept in it, and there was room left. Cons: The pillow doesn't get warm enough to keep my old kitty warm. There's quite a bit of warmth because the pad is under the foam. Solution: (I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but it worked for me) I ripped out the heating pad which is stuck between two pieces of foam. It came out pretty easily but there were two spots where the foam stuck to the heating pad and I just took them off and put them back in the holes I had made. Then I place the heating pad directly under the cover. After that, the heat coefficient increased significantly. All in all this is a great bed for my fragile 14 year old cat. When it's really cold (I'm in San Antonio, it's really cold here, about 35 degrees) I throw a towel over it and tuck the ends under my sides. The sides are high enough for my cat to have enough space to lie with their head up without being pinched by the towel. The bed is quite expensive so some owners may be reluctant to tear up the bed like me, but it made a huge difference to my old cat's bones.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Doubtful
