I did a lot of reading and searching on google before settling on the LAUNCH CRP909X scanner. I could probably get a cheaper block but I don't think I'll be happy with it using it on other cars. I bought this unit to diagnose an ABS issue on a 2015 Jeep. I'm somewhat familiar with scanners because I have a third-party programmer who modifies the ECU when the LS3 engine is replaced. The launch scanner was easy to update and self-diagnose. The vehicle I scanned had more DTCs than Advance Auto reported to me during a free scan. I was able to diagnose the car and order parts. The only hope I have is that one day the device will be able to run on my new 2021 Silverado. New car computers are starting to get scrambled and manufacturers are trying to push everyone just to the dealer. I will resist as long as I can myself. Full disclosure, I was a dealer mechanic in a past life.
