My boys immediately found them very comfortable and took them on long hikes and mountain bike rides in Colorado. They didn't have to "break in". Unfortunately, both pairs faced the same problem: the metal parts that the straps run through aren't strong enough. They constantly diverged and crawled out of the boots. Luckily I had needle-nosed players that kept them together all along. In the end we lost 1 in the campaign and had 3 more to fix. If this problem was fixed, that would be for the best. The guys were very stable due to the traction of the sole and the general flexibility.
