The instructions state that the screen door should be removed and laid flat. I didn't do that, I just installed it like that and everything went fine, just needed a second person to hold the other side still while I screwed. Box knife that ran smoothly. Then I inserted a hinged door which (according to the instructions) had to be bent to the point where I was afraid I would break it, but it didn't break. After installation, my cat sniffed at it but otherwise continued to scratch the rest. Enter and exit screen yet. I stuck it on for a while so she could get used to coming in and out for a while and she did. But in the end I had to let her try to open it and she wouldn't. So I taped some catnip to the pet door and it helped her use it once or twice. But it's been a few weeks since I installed it and she's just using it now to get back in. I've noticed that when she comes through the door, she swings pretty quickly and pinches her tail a few times, which she doesn't actually do. how. It's not hard at all, so I'm not sure if it hurts, but it seems to scare her. She also doesn't push her head against the door, she taps the door with her paw until the magnet breaks the connection, and then she puts her hand in front of her head first. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she eventually starts going out on her own instead of just using it to come back. I gave 4 stars because it's worth what I paid. I knew it was gambling. It's not the manufacturer's fault my cat doesn't like them. It works as intended. I bought 1 star because it pinches her tail.
