You don't need to read the instructions. Plug it in then press the telephone button for about a second and that same button is also a dial that you used to tune to an empty FM station. Just choose the device on your Bluetooth from your phone and you're set. You can answer your phone without taking it out of your console or purse or whatever by just pressing the phone button and hang up the same way. Once you are tuned in and listening to your music from your other device through your stereo, the knob which is also the phone button becomes a volume control as well. I would suggest you just said it to a level near high and then your radio and phone can be used for additional controls. If things become staticy Find Another Empty station and start the process over by pressing the phone button for a second or two and that will take you to the tuning ability. The closer the device is to your radio the less chance of static so I would use the cigarette lighter socket on the front dash instead of one to the rear of the vehicle. If you've been using a cassette adapter or any sort of wired adapter you will find this to be a great Improvement in convenience
