I was looking for new tongs with strong forged handles, not all those fancy rolled steel things that are flimsy, flimsy, rusty and difficult to clean. I tend to cook big. Pork shoulder, turkey, brisket, pork belly, etc. Rolled steel tongs just won't cut them when handling 20-30 pound hot cuts of meat. It's damn good and cheap. I put the tongs in a 25 pound turkey. cavity and easily lifted it and stabilized it with a fork. This is a good test of the strength of the tweezers. The photos show the tools mounted on a Lodge 17-inch cast iron skillet. This pan is about the same size as Lodge's which shows the tools are a decent size. Although I bought them for tongs, the spatula is quickly becoming a popular tool in my inventory. I have other larger spatulas, but the shape and strength of this tool is very good. I cook a lot with cast iron on my high temperature outdoor stove. The curved edges and corners of this tool seem to work really well with the radii of the cast iron pans. It cleans pans well without scratching or digging, which is very important for cast iron maintenance. One of the shortcomings of these tools that should be addressed during the punching process is the sharpness of the small flame in the center of the tools. This has been mentioned in some reviews I've read and it poses a safety hazard. If you wash these tools you can actually puncture yourself with these dots resulting in a nasty little injury. I took mine and laid it in a nice soft rounded surface. It took about 15 minutes and is well worth the time. Other than that, they're pretty good tools. I wish they had a matching fork of the same gauge. That would complete the set.
