I have a cargo carrier and it rocks a bit if I don't use this hitch tightener. Recently when traveling I used this on my cargo carrier and at some point during the drive my hitch pin/lock came off. Not sure how. It is a locking pin, but still came off. I bought a locking pin set from Masterlock and it did not stay on. Thank goodness I was only using the cargo carrier and not hauling a trailer. Although the pin came out the cargo carrier stayed on thanks to the hitch tightener.
