This converter inputs video from a composite (red, white, yellow) cable and converts to be either recorded on a USB drive (not included) or to watch on a tv or monitor via the HDMI output, or both. Operating is about as easy as it gets. Plug in cables, and start to watch. If you want to record at the same time, attach a USB drive and hit one button to record, then hit again to stop. The files are recorded in mp4 format. This is great for all those old videos on VHS tapes and cameras which need to be digitized. For those who haven't gone totally streaming and still have a cable box, the composite output feeds into this device and records even premium channels. The only drawback is that it will only record a max of 2GB per segment. The instructions included a link to software to download which allows you to join or separate MP4 files. The joining software worked OK, but the splitting software part wouldn't save the file for me. Overall, I like it.
