The first time I tried this I did what everyone else does, took off the lid and smelled it. I was in heaven! The aroma of this candle is just phenomenal! But when I lit them for their intended purpose, I noticed that when they burned there was no smell either in the air around me or in the candle itself. As for odor elimination, it's really hard to say. I also used the supplied spray to get that great scent airborne, so I can't say 100% "eliminated". Again, it might just be me, but don't buy it because I don't prefer it, you might. Hope that helps at least a little.
