Review on Pack Of 2 CRAFTSMAN Retractable Blade Utility Knives (CMHT10382) For Precision Cutting And Safety by Floe Rankin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Awful way to change blades on these knives.

I like the red.Does a good job of retracting when the blade is not needed.I have a few Stanley box knives and love them.I love Craftsman tools but these are the hardest knives I have ever tried to replace the blades on.I’m cutting carpet. A bunch of precision cuts where I have to replace the blades after a few cuts. The Stanley knives take under a minute to unscrew, replace or flip, the blade and screw back up.These Craftsman knives unscrew fine but the blades are "stuck” in the retracting part. I cut my fingers a couple of times trying to get the blade out and insert a new blade in. Then the retracting mechanism must be positioned just right and the handle inserted. The handle has a arm that has to be inserted under the other half of the handle. Just right or nothing lines up and you can’t put the screw back in. Meanwhile as you’re positioning the handle the blade and the blade holder pops out of place.Literally takes 5 minutes to replace the blades on these.I replaced the blades one last time and put them in other workbenches where they’ll see occasional use.

Pros
  • Easy to replace blades for convenience
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism can become stuck and difficult to move
