Review on Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 205/55 R16 91H summer by Micha Bukowski (Pax) ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It was a reasonable purchase, I will order more.

Although I got used to the harshness and noise of the Dunlop SP Sport FastResponse tires that came standard on the new car after a while, I started looking for tires made of softer rubber since I found them to be too harsh. The Dunlop SP Sport FastResponse and the Continental PremiumContact 5 are polar opposites in every possible way. In my perspective, the rubber was far too pliable, as evidenced by the roll that could be seen in the corners. When moving around at low speeds, you have to frequently and clearly twist the steering wheel because the turning angles are so great. On the other hand, this can be compensated for by performing a solid braking maneuver in a brief portion just before the turn to decrease roll, in addition to doing a good directional stability maneuver. At low speeds, such as when navigating in a parking lot or in a traffic jam, there is a very sluggish reaction to steering movements. However, when driving on decent asphalt, the vehicle moves as smoothly as if it were on rails, and there is no sound at all. To this point, I have not settled on a certain choice for myself. Comfort, silence, suppleness, strong acceleration and braking, and directional stability on the one hand; roll in bends and slow steering on the other. I am not yet able to comment on the vehicle's durability, but I do my best to drive cautiously. It's possible that I'll try to find a compromise. Where is the Michelin Primacy 3?

Pros
  • Gentle, peaceful, and with effective brakes.
Cons
  • Steering angles that are increased, and roll when turning.
