After renting such a device for a trip to Europe I decided to buy it for my upcoming trip to Egypt as the device is priced at $85 compared to almost even paying for rental costs after a ride. I bought a SIM card from the Orange kiosk in baggage claim at Cairo airport. In general, the device worked well. It could handle 4 connected phones and I got mostly stable 4G LTE in populated areas, with occasional dropouts. I can't tell if it was network or device related. (Much better than what I got when I had to switch to Verizon's service for the day for reasons unrelated to the device.) The battery life isn't great, so I have to give it up after about 4-6 charge hours. I just connected it to the power bank in my backpack. Sometimes I had to restart the device when I was having connection issues, but I didn't think it made much of a difference as it only happened every other day. Sometimes the app had small connection problems, but the web interface always worked. So -1 star for battery life and the occasional minor hiccup, but overall I think it's a good hotspot for international travel.
