The horn stopped working on my 1986 Toyota Pickup/RV. I added a gasket behind the plate on the handlebar. Worked a few years. Then I found this part. See photo. There is a hole at the end of the pin. Obviously this is an indicator of wear and tear. If the hole is gone, it's time to replace the pin. This part worked great. Obviously it is meant to be used as a wear part like motor brushes. After removing the combo switch, it took five minutes. Luckily this time I removed the toggle for a different task. Edit: The new contact kept fraying and producing copper dust. I then lubricated the plate with electric grease. NO MORE COPPER DUST!
