I had this particular device on a 12 year old Hearthstone fireplace. I couldn't relearn the original after changing the battery (the batteries were rusted there and it wasn't used for years). I already had the gas valves in place so my installation was easier. I put the batteries in the new device, held down the learn button, and then used the remote control. and this one beeps and the old one, i never remember it beeping so feedback is appreciated knowing they are related. Then simply remove the plugs from the strips under the chimney where the original was and then plug in the two supplied plugs (they are already screwed into the remote control) and everything worked perfectly. The remote control is great as it's not IR based so place it anywhere in the room. and I set the temperature and it turns the stove on and off. It doesn't regulate the flame, although it basically just turns on and off unless I missed something in the setting.
