These fittings will not work with the standard cone that came with my shop vacuum. However, they fit the hose set I bought for my shop vacuum. They also come to an end that comes with the shop vacuum cleaner itself. I suspect they are made to attach the hose set to the original vacuum hose to lengthen it so you can use your original cone end with the attachments. I had a coupler in my kit so didn't really need them. Don't buy them expecting them to attach your vacuum hose to anything unless you tape them in place. They are too loose and may fall off. It's probably only 1/16 of an inch, but if you don't use tape, they'll slip right off.
