Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Prestone Super Radiator Anti-Rust (AS170Y): The Ultimate Solution for Rust Prevention! by Robert Aan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for classic cars

Modern anti-freeze was not available until some time after the Second World War. However, corrosion has always existed. Almost immediately after World War II, most cars used water, an anti-corrosion agent, and when needed, a third agent (sometimes methanol) as antifreeze. Because the boiling point of water is higher than most modern antifreeze, serviceable cars of the era were not as prone to overheating as vintage cars that run on antifreeze today. I have a 1949 Pontiac and live in the south where frosty weather is rare but very hot in the summer. My car got a little warm from the antifreeze so I drained the antifreeze and placed a container of Prestone rust preventative and distilled water in the cooling system. Almost a year later I needed to fix the transmission on my car and the shop told me they had to drain the coolant to do the job. After that they called me and wanted to know what I use in my cooling system because the fluid drained from my car was PERFECTLY CLEAN with no signs of rust or corrosion. My car's engine has not been rebuilt and I use the original radiator. Therefore, I strongly recommend this product for use with distilled water for older vehicles that have never been exposed to low temperatures or where overheating can be a problem in the summer. A can of antifreeze doesn't hurt either.
