My large "gliding belt" has worn out a pressed and laminated leather belt in nine months. I'm a big guy and I'll admit I'm tough with leather straps, but this strap and buckle weren't as solid in construction as this Dante strap. I loved the Dante belt so much I bought it for my oldest son for Christmas and then bought myself a replacement! Three Dante straps cost a little less than what I paid for a "real" slip strap - that's the real deal. Time. The strap itself is black, slightly wider and thicker, and made from rawhide, an improvement over "other brands". The gunmetal buckle is more secure too - and by this point, after almost two months of constant use, the other buckle was looking frayed and starting to fall off - not Dante. This is a limited size - 43" - can be a maximum of 44". The ratchet mechanism has more teeth per linear length for more precise adjustment. It goes well with all my work, casual and dress pants, but I've never really stuck to fashion. One caveat: if you over-tighten the strap, you will have to relieve some of the strap's tension before it can be released by undoing the buckle underneath the buckle. ie suck your gut! I like it!
