Review on WTJMOV Portable Electric Automatic Shut Off by Dawn Babyiee

Big size but a few design flaws

I planned to use it as a travel companion along with a portable French press to make great coffee on my frequent trips. I like the looks and the compact size so I was happy to try it. Although the size is nice and compact and clearly labeled as 1/3 litre, I found the first downside is that the capacity is too small. If you plan to use it for a cup of tea, you might like its capacity. I would have preferred and now bought a 1/2 liter unit. My biggest dislike and deal breaker is the fact that it's advertised as automatically shutting itself off when it reaches boiling point. I may have come across a defective model, but I ran it for a full 10 minutes with active cooking and it never turned off. Even if I pour below the specified line, the water wants to squirt out with rapid boiling, although there is a damper on the spout opening, which is dangerous and annoying. If you just unplug it once you feel like it's fully cooked, the top will get very hot due to the steam escaping. So if you are not careful when removing the lid from the sides only, you risk burning yourself. The on/off switch is very low on the case, so turning it off is also a little awkward, especially since it's still actively simmering when I try to turn it off. So, great looking and seemingly travel-friendly size, I don't recommend it. The main disadvantage is the fact that it does not turn off after reaching full boiling. Added to this is the risk of dealing with steam rising from above. I'm sorry but I don't recommend it.
