Remington PG6171 The Crafter: Beard Boss Style and Detail Kit, Men's Cut, Grooming (11 pcs) Wahl Lithium Ion All In One Grooming Kit #9854-600 I had the opportunity to Compare this Remington The Crafter literally side-by-side with Wahl's #9854-600 Lithium-Ion All-in-One Care Kit. They were exactly the same price so I decided to do a thorough comparison. Initially I was so happy with the old version of pretty much the same choice that I went out and bought a second one. As soon as I switched it on for the first time, I noticed that the on/off switch wobbled and felt very plastic. And when I connected the cable to charge the battery, I remembered the reason I had to replace the old model: the little connector was very tight and I had a feeling it was about to break, especially if I pulled pretty hard had to . to turn it off. With the older model I was very disappointed that the internal parts of the PLUG literally broke inside leaving no way to charge my Wahl Groomer. Everything still worked great! That's rubbing. After 4-5 years of daily use, it still worked like new. I hated throwing it away just for the innards of the power connector. Unhappy with how "fantastic plastic" it was, I bought another brand that cost the same: Remington's "The Crafter" style and parts kit. After using both, I settled on the Remington, but the choice had a few merits. Both have lithium batteries. Both come with a small case, several beard attachments, and fixed-length combs. The Wahl (W) had a few things that most don't have, including the Remington (R): - A wider T-blade which I think would make trimming hair easier (which I wouldn't use it for) - It can boast a 1 minute charge. It also allowed you to use it while it was plugged in and charging - R didn't. This feature was much needed on my old Wahl as the battery would drain much quicker after many years and didn't hold the charge very well when unplugged. I just left it plugged in most of the time. (Remember, this is after 4-5 years of use.) In terms of functionality, I couldn't tell any difference to a beard trimmer. While the included mounting rails are slightly different, they all work the same, with the R offering accessories that can be adjusted in smaller increments. The R offers two engine speeds (W, only one, but I always use the faster "turbo" speed). to R, which is essentially the same as W, so I didn't really care). Wahl's biggest selling point was the ultra-precise foil razor. The shaft had a double head and was much wider. Shaving the neck and face was noticeably quicker and more thorough. That alone was ALMOST enough for me to save Wahl. However, this advantage led to many weaknesses, especially compared to the Remington: changing different heads (trim, foil, nose trimmer) on the W always made me feel like I was going to break it because it seemed so cheap. The pieces did not break easily. I tried not to switch to another head just for fear of damaging it. R, on the other hand, requires simply turning your head to both turn it off and on (instead of prying it off and snapping it back on). after a little fight). The R feels solid and now I'm never afraid that switching to a nose trimmer, for example, will break my trimmer. The entire Remington Crafter feels much more solid. The on/off switch is a push button under the waterproof rubber. By the way, R is waterproof, but W is not. I think the lack of water resistance is what caused my old choice to break when turned on as there was a tiny hint of rusting. The Remington uses a larger rubber connector that doesn't seem capable of breaking internally. As I mentioned, Wahl's power button literally shook. It didn't affect its ability to turn it on and off, but the "plasticity" and lack of firmness is what really put me off this product as I only give it 6 months to a year before it kinda breaks down. Another difference was the nose trimmer. Wahl's was a roughly quarter-inch version of the trimmer. He did his job and reached my nose. But the Remington has an entirely different, more functional design that extends further in and around the nose. If you have a large or long horn, the Remington will suit you. Mostly inconsequential: The small bait pouch for the W was much better than the R. They're both functional so it didn't affect my decision. Conclusion: The Remington is built much stronger. Despite my long experience with the choice, I just couldn't get over the awesome plastics and cheap feel, ESPECIALLY compared to the Remington. A word of caution: if you are using an ultra-fine foil razor on a large area of the neck and face: the Wahl version is much better. (I just hope the little plastic pieces inside the heads don't break when you switch between Trim and Ultra Close.)
