I live in a rural area where I don't have access to broadband cables. I bought a Netgear Nighthawk M1 Cellular Access Point/Router and was able to get an AT&T signal that carries 12-40MB depending on the time of day. Unfortunately, my wifi signal didn't cover all 2 floors. I've read great reviews of other Ubiquiti products and was blown away when I saw AMPLIFI's simplified mesh instant WiFi system. I bought it and it couldn't be easier. I connected an ethernet cable from my modem to the WAN port on the AMPLIFI head unit and hooked up the mesh network on top and suddenly I'm getting 40MB of speed all the time. Something magical is happening now. I read how to put Netgear or AMPLIFI in bridge mode to prevent double NAT translation. First I tried Netgear and then when the whole system crashed I tried to switch the bridge mode to AMPLIFI. I must have messed it up as I didn't get either. I read something on the Netgear and Ubiquiti forums that just baffled a newbie like me. For some reason I decided to introduce a simple switch between NETGEAR and AMPLIFI and connect ethernet from the switch to my TV, Apple TV and Ave receiver. Then I connected to AMPLIFI wirelessly. For some reason I can't understand, I'm now consistently getting over 60Mbps and off-peak up to 130Mbps. Unbelievable! I'd really like to know why, but now I'm going alone. OK
